Tun Abdul Razak bin Hussein, the Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister was the Guest of Honour at the
Annual Speech Day and Prize-giving on April 11, 1962. On his arrival he was greeted by the V.I.
Cadet Corps Guard of Honour which included Crown Prince Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei (second from

In his Speech to the assembly, Tun Razak paid tribute to the VI Headmaster, Dr. G.E.D. Lewis as this was to be his last Speech Day before he retired. Sir Alexander Oppenheim, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Malaya, addressed the audience. The wife of the Education Minister, Che Rahmah, gave away the prizes. An exhibition of school work in the classrooms and laboratories followed by a variety concert capped the day's events.
