For the 1966 annual school concert, Art Master Mr Vincent Voo attempted to assemble a mixed
sixth form choir. However the boys regarded the venture as 'cissy' and so it was an all-girls
choir that made up the last item of the evening's programme on April 6, 1966. Chew Fei Yin,
Shanta Danaraj and Yolande Arianayagam sang Mendelssohn's "It was a lover and his lass", with
the words from Shakespeare's "As you like it". The choir then rendered a two-part Elizabethan
love song and ended the concert with the national anthem.
The same V.I. girls' choir was later entered by Vincent Voo in the Selangor school choir competition and emerged second.
