A series of events were organised to celebrate the Victoria Institution's Diamond Jubilee in 1954. They included a swimming gala held on 25th August. A series of oratorical contests to determine the best senior and junior orators were also held. On Founders' Day itself, the old tradition of prize-giving was revived together with an exhibition of school work in the classrooms. The event was graced by the presence of the Sultan of Selangor and his consort. The Tengku Ampuan of Selangor gave away the prizes.

The event that kicked off all these celebrations was the Prefects' Ball on 17th July, 1954, in the School Hall. Teachers, Old Boys, present boys and girls, all immaculately groomed, participated in the grand party. At the climax of the ball, the Headmaster, Mr. A. Atkinson, cut the Diamond Jubilee cake baked in the shape of the school to rapturous applause from two hundred revellers. Everybody had a piece of the cake which was the handicraft of Mrs Foenander, wife of teacher and Old Boy, Mr. A.L. Foenander.
