Mr. Towers inspects the V.I.C.C. in July 1939.
He is accompanied by Mr Daniel (holding sword) with the headmaster, Mr C.E. Gates, behind him.
On Saturday, 1st July, 1939, a ceremonial parade was held in honour of the visit of Mr. A.C.J. Towers, who was the first O.C., V.I.C.C., 40 years ago in 1899. Mr Towers had served in VI from 1897 to 1902. The V.I.Cadet Corps, 220 strong, formed up in line on the Corps parade ground, and when Mr. Towers arrived at 7:45 a.m., he was received with a General Salute. He then inspected the Corps, after which he presented a magnificent silver-mounted staff to the Drum-Major. The Parade then marched past in column of route and Mr. Towers again took the salute opposite the main entrance. The annual group photograph was then taken and the group included Mr. Towers, Mr F.C. Barraclough (O.C, V.I..C.C. 1923-1929), the Headmaster and Mr Chan Hung Chin (Master-in-charge, V.I. C.C. Band, since 1914). After the photograph had been taken, Mr Towers addressed the Corps. The proceedings terminated with three very hearty cheers for V.I.C.C.'s first Commanding Officer.
