The Prime Minister attends VI's 75th Anniversary Celebrations, 1968
On 11th April 1968, celebrations of the 75th Anniversary of the founding of the school began with the arrival by helicopter at 5 p.m. of the Education Minister, Encik Khir Johari, who landed at the school field. He was followed by the Prime Minister, YTM Tengku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj and Puan Sahrifah Rodziah, who arrived in a more conventional mode of transportation, escorted by outriders.

The Tengku inspected the honour guard mounted by 50 infantry cadets and 80 cadet band members. In the School Hall, the headmaster, Mr V. Murugasu, read out his annual report of the school to the gathering of dignitaries and parents. In the Tengku's speech, the Malaysian Prime Minister praised the high standard of education and discipline in the V.I. Puan Sharifah Rodziah then presented the prizes to the best students from Form One to Form Six. A special award was given to the oldest known surviving Old Boy, Mr R. Thampipillay, who had been a teacher in the VI for over 30 years before the war.

At 7:30 p.m. the Cadet Band struck up to give an entertaining floodlit display. This was followed by a fireworks display using fireworks manufactured by the members of the Science and Maths Society, no less ! Through it all, the public wandered through the various classrooms and laboratories which were filled with exhibits of different aspects of school life and activities.
