The Super Twelve
Eleven of the twelve young men selected for officer training in Britain pose with the
British High Commissioner, Sir Gerald Templer, at a reception given in their honour
at the latter's residence in Kuala Lumpur. Three Victorians are among these future officers,
dubbed the "Super Twelve" by the press - Khong Kim Kong (seated extreme left),
Gui Poh Chui (standing extreme left) and Lakbir Singh (behind Sir Gerald).
On their return from training, they formed the nucleus of the new multi-racial Federation
Regiment in Malaya.
