The V.I. emerged champions for the second year in succession in the Interschool Form Six Science Quiz for the Gemini Trophy. Five schools participated in the event organized by the Science and Maths Society. By the end of the first round the VI already had a substantial lead over the M.B.S., St Johns Institution, the Royal Military College and Sekolah Alam Shah.

There were four questions in each round, one each on Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Biology. The school was represented by Yap Peng Lee (Biology), Chiang Chiak Liam (Mathematics), Chong Siew Meng (Physics) and Chong Tien Choy (Chemistry). The questions were set by various members of the U.S. Peace Corps serving all over Malaysia. The quiz master was Dr. P. R. Wycherley of the Rubber Research Institute.

The Gemini Tophy is made of solid pewter costing $800 and was donated in 1966 by the United States Information Service. This prize was presented by Mrs Earl J. Wilson, wife of the Director of the USIS, to Yap Peng Lee (above).
