The V.I. Picture of the Month - July 2000

Here we pull out a scanned picture from our collection or contributors that is related to either the V.I. past or present. If you have any interesting photo or picture about the V.I. or Victorians that you would like to share in this section, please do send the scanned image in GIF or JPEG format, together with a short write up on it to ooibk@pop.jaring.my.

Former England skipper and former Newcastle United and Liverpool player, Kevin Keegan was at the V.I. in 1985 to conduct a coaching clinic under the auspices of the Coca Cola Company. He last played for Newcastle United in the 1983-1984 season when Newcastle was still in the Second Division but called it a day when the club gained its promotion to the First Division.

The 2000 England Coach, Keegan is seen showing his footballing skills on the V.I. green. He is one of a long line of famous sportsmen who have graced the V.I. - including Olympians Jesse Owens, William Campbell and Parry O'Brien.
