The School Concert of 1956 was staged in conjunction with the Speech Day and School Exhibition on March 28th. Various sketches and musical items representing the best efforts from all the classes were performed. The climax of the evening was U6B's "symphony orchestra" led by one bearded Russian conductor named Phangkowski (who looked suspiciously like Phang Kow Weng, the School Captain). The "maestro" led his ragtag team through a medley of tortured classics which probably had many of their famed composers turning in their graves. But it definitely had the audience in stitches throughout the performance and deservedly won the V.I. Society of Drama trophy for the best item in the concert.
