The V.I. Picture of the Month - February 2000

Here we pull out a scanned picture from our collection or contributors that is related to either the V.I. past or present. The Deputy Minister of Education, Mr Chan Siang Sun, accompanied by the headmaster, Mr. Victor Gopal, inspected a Guard of Honour mounted by the V.I. Cadet Corps, on the occasion of the V.I.'s Speech and Prize-giving Day.

Mr Chan, an old boy of the VI, said it would be more beneficial to instill patriotism in students than to emphasize examination results. The Deputy Minister praised the students for their performance in the LCE, MCE and HSC examinations. He also said that he would personally look into the extension of 12 classrooms and the proposed hostels at the school to absorb a greater number of students. Following the Prize-giving, Mr Chan declared open the school exhibition. The school VICC Band later gave a display.
