An attendance board has been put up near the school notice boards, and on this is recorded the daily attendance of each class.

Blazers are now sold to Victorians who pay $8.50 or $10/- in five monthly instalments of $2. The school crest costs $1.75

In order to remove the last excuse for dirty buttons, badges and belt buckles, every cadet has now been issued with a button stick, a button brush and a tin of "Soldier's Friend". Spectators at Cadet Corps parades are advised to wear dark glasses in order to reduce the dazzle.

The Selangor Badminton Association has very kindly presented the School with a handsome shield for Inter-House competition.

New orders have been issued about boys who are late in the morning or afternoon school without a reasonable excuse. They will have to drill the same day 4 - 4:30 p.m. under the Duty Master.

Prefects are to see that boys do not remain in the classrooms during the interval.

Sixth standard boys have a singing class on Monday afternoons.

Sixth and seventh standards have their Latin classes during afternoon school hours. The Cambridge students, however, have periods allotted to them for Latin during the morning session.

'Code for pedal cyclists', a list of instructions for boys who ride bicycles, is pinned in every class prominently.

Mr R. Thampipillay, the oldest member of the school staff, an ideal master, philosopher, friend and guide retired after nearly 40 years of meritorious service. We wish that life in retirement may be a long and happy one.

On Friday June 10th the school assembled in the school hall and the headmaster gave to the prefects their newly made silver badges. These are a great improvement on the former ones.

Instead of the tents of the various races, a combined tent was put up on Sports day. The school hall was tastefully decorated and it proved a great success.

Many improvements have been made to the school cinema to the delight of the patrons. The music is up-to-date and the use of the arc lamp is very effective.

For the first time in its history the school challenged the MGS to an interschool debate which was held in a crowded house in the school hall. The subject was "Coeducation should be introduced into Malaya". The MGS proposed and to our surprise the girls spoke very well and won the debate.

The trees around the school building have grown to an appreciable height and present an improved appearance to the view of the compound. We hope to be able to publish views of the School as it appears now from Gaol Road (later Jalan Shaw, now Jalan Hang Tuah).

Cross-country running has been revived but instead of the plain run we now have paper chases. Three "hares" go out a day before the run to find a course. On the day of the run they leave five minutes ahead of the hounds. The hares are at liberty to lay false trails. So far the hounds do not know what the hares look like.

The school hockey seems to be a good second to the Indian Olympic team. It looks as though it is below its dignity to win by one or two goals but prefers to win by dozens and half-dozens. So far the school team has played matches scoring goals in all.

Mr Lall Singh, our ex-cricket captain, has returned to Kuala Lumpur after winning test fame.

We congratulate Lee Kong Soon on reaching the quarter finals of the Open Singles in the Selangor Badminton Association's championship. He has beaten two well-known players in Wong Kok Sun and A.L. Henry.
